On-Page SEO Scoring

Almost everything we know about Search Engine Optimization can be regarded as educated guess work. No one knows exactly how Google, Yahoo and other major search engines index their pages. What we know for sure is that Search Engines change their algorithms slightly from time to time, therefore making the rules of SEO guidelines, rather, that cannot be known to be, without a doubt, 100% correct.

However, as much as search engines change their algorithms, there are some rules that are most likely to remain constant.

What is On-Page SEO?

On-Page SEO is the process of  creating your website to meet a specific standard so that it is search engine friendly. Thus making your pages easy to index by the major search engines.Never underestimate the power of on-page Search Engine Optimization. From experience, it is arguably just as important, as off-page SEO.

Making you site search engine friendly is not only about how to develop, but also best practices on how NOT to develop. Below is an SEO score sheet that gives on-page SEO a point-like structure to help you develop you search engine friendly website. This has been broken up into 5 articles:

  1. SEO Scoring pt1: Keywords
  2. SEO Scoring pt2: Links
  3. SEO Scoring pt3: Content
  4. SEO Scoring pt4: Domains
  5. SEO Scoring pt5: Meta tags & visual extras

Getting into the Search Engines

Search engines give you the option to submit your website, which they say could take up to 3 weeks. Submission to search engine is not necessary if your site has been optimised for search engines. If this is the case, your site could be indexed as early as 3 days from creating the domain. Perhaps even sooner if off-page SEO has been correctly engineered.
