Keywords in the <title> tag(+3)
One of the most important places because the <title> tag shows in search results as your page title. Must be short, 7 words at most, and the the keyword must be near the beginning.
Keywords in the URL(+3)
Having the keyword in the URL helps a lot. But don’t rely on it if you do not have keywords anywhere else on your page.
Keywords in link text(+3)
These are extremely important, especially with links coming in from other sites. An Incoming link is like getting a vote from
another site on the keyword n the text
Keywords in header tags(+3)
Another important place for keywords. The level of the <H> tag determines the importance.
Keywords in <alt> tags(+2)
Search engine bots don’t read images, but they do read the alternative text. So <alt> tags are good to have.
Keywords phrases(+1)
Not only can you optimize for keywords but also phrases consisting on 2 or 3 keywords.
Secondary keywords(+1)
Secondary keywords can be a goldmine. Taking into account the lesser keywords that your competition doesn’t consider.
Keyword mistypes(0)
Although it may seem like a good idea to purposefully mistype keywords to predict user mistypes, this does not make a good impression on bots.
Keyword dilution(-2)
When optimizing many keywords, some may get lost amongst the general text.
Keyword stuffing (-3)
Filling the web page with keywords could risk you getting banned from the search engines. It is recommended keeping the keywords less than 12% of the page.
